Efecto del reparto de dividendo en el retorno de la acción en Chile

Abstract

En los últimos 27 años, se han efectuado numerosos estudios en el campo de los dividendos. Este artículo tiene como objetivo contrastar el estudio de Barclay (1987) y complementar el de Venkatesh (1989). En esta investigación, se concluye que, en Chile, los retornos accionarios en la fecha poscierre no caen en el monto del dividendo como lo concluido por Barclay. Esto se debe a que, en Chile, el efecto depende del tipo de dividendo. Finalmente, complementando el estudio de Venkatesh, se determinó que, en Chile, la volatilidad promedio de los 25 días anteriores al cierre es menor que los 25 días posteriores.
