Santa Cruz y O’Higgins: dos efemérides

Abstract

El año que concluye recordó -entre otras- dos efemérides: el sesquicentenario del fallecimiento del prócer chileno Bernardo O’Higgins, y el bicentenario del nacimiento de Andrés de Santa Cruz Calahumana. El autor recuerda del primero, su contribución a la causa de la libertad chilena y peruana y los diecinueve últimos años de su vida que pasó exiliado entre nosotros. Del segundo, su convicción de siempre por reunir los antiguos territorios del Alto y Bajo Perú, intentando restaurar la vieja unidad que siglos de vida en común les había dado.
