El autor discute el sentido de la problemática celebración del Quinto Centenario del Descubrimiento de América. Revisa las distintas posiciones al respecto. Presenta su posición personal como historiador. Invita a la superación de las contradicciones del pasado como paso indispensable para la construcción del futuro.
