El Estado latinoamericano y las políticas de austeridad: Perú 1980-1985

Abstract

El propósito central del articulo consiste en establecer la relación existente entre la consolidación de la democracia peruana y los intentos del gobierno belaundista (1980-1985) de aplicar programas de austeridad económica. Para ello, el autor hace una descripción de las principales políticas implementadas por los cuatro Ministros de Economía y Finanzas que tuvieron a su cargo el manejo de la situación económica del país a lo largo del período examinado. Finalmente, el artículo evalúa la progresiva pérdida de legitimidad que fue experimentado el gobierno belaundista como resultado de las tensiones sociales asociadas al hondo deterioro de la calidad de vida de la población peruana.
