Theoretical Debates on the Potential of Social Enterprises

Abstract

In this paper we are trying to theoretically highlight the positive potential social enterprises can have in the nowadays society. Social enterprises have gained a great importance within the development of public policies and also in the work of different researchers. This is because it is considered to have an important potential on different aspects. Being a hybrid between profit enterprises and non-profit organizations and also being close to the public administrations, their influence can be seen from the transformation of the welfare system and the development of a job market for persons which would not be easily employed in a traditional for profit enterprise, to social cohesion and creation of social capital, local development, the dynamics of the third sector and the link between the network governance.
