Abstract

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept that clarifies the meaning of social responsibilities of companies and shows how they can be met. Organizations are strongly connected to the business environment where they operate. In a wider sense, CSR incorporates not only the direct stakeholders, such as the employees and the customers, but at the same time, the local community and the ecological factors. In this way, CSR develops almost in a natural way and it can be perceived as a moral responsibility that organizations assume in their relationships with their internal constituents and with their surroundings. CSR goes beyond merely obeying the law: it starts where the law ends. In Romania, the concept of social responsibility is still in its early stages of development. The paper tries to present an analysis of the CSR development in Romania. The methodological approach is literature review.
