Abstract

The paper intends to check if there is a long-term equilibrium relationship between family and childcare support public expenditure and the total fertility rate, using a sample of 30 European countries, and to evaluate its magnitude. The results obtained using recent techniques for panel data analysis confirm the theoretical predictions that family and childcare public spending has a positive long-term effect on total fertility rate.
