Static Multipliers And Social Accounting Systems

Abstract

THIS article does not attempt to arrive at new results. Its aim is rather to offer a more systematic framework than has hitherto been provided for the analysis of a large variety of already well explored situations. In doing so, however, it brings out assumptions which are not always clearly stated and whose variation or replacement by alternatives may open the way to a more general and pragmatic approach. It will be best to proceed from the particular to the general and start with the analysis of pure capital transactions, such as are oharacteristio of the financial sector and its relations with the government and the public.
