Round-up of English patent litigation in 2024

Abstract

2024 saw 14 final decisions, concerning 21 patents, in inter partes proceedings in which patent infringement and/or validity was in issue.4 patents were held to be valid and infringed, 5 not to be infringed and 16 to be invalid, all but 5 on the ground of obviousness.2024 also saw 5 Court of Appeal decisions in such proceedings, in 1 of which the trial judge was reversed on validity - in favour of the patentee.
