Abstract

The approach to a position of the procurement in business strategy changed in history from the view focused to administrative-logistic processes connected to purchasing of physical products towards the view which puts procurement at the same level as other crucial business functions. Some authors stated that historically, procurement has been passive business function whose obligation was merely to fulfil orders gathered on the basis of business plans from the top -level management or from other business functions. In management oriented towards value creation, procurement becomes an integral part of the business strategy. The main goal of strategic procurement is contribution to value of products, services and processes. In this paper, ways of procurement contribution to value creation will be systemized and procurement strategies oriented towards value creation will be elaborated.
