Abstract

For Business English teachers, case study is a relatively new and innovative method in language teaching. The present paper reflects on the advantages of using case study as a method in Business English courses, as well as the basic characteristics and principles of this new tool of developing learners’ linguistic and non-linguistic competence. In other words, the aim of this paper is to show what the case study is, why it is successful in the Business English class, how it works and how can it be used in language teaching. Case study plays an important role in teaching and learning Business English, having a huge potential to consolidate the already acquired knowledge, as it is very rich in content and providing the students the opportunity to train specific language and different managerial skills. By using this method, the teaching process will certainly become more effective and student-centered.
