Abstract

On assiste depuis quelques années, partout dans le monde, à un regain d’intérêt pour le nucléaire comme composante du bouquet énergétique. Une combinaison complexe de facteurs est à l’origine de cette possible « renaissance du nucléaire » : sauvegarde de l’environnement grâce à l’absence d’émissions de gaz à effet de serre, amélioration de la fiabilité de l’exploitation des centrales, coût avantageux du combustible et de l’exploitation, mesures d’incitation des pouvoirs publics, pour ne citer que ces facteurs. Pour la première fois depuis une génération, les compagnies d’électricité envisagent sérieusement la construction de nouvelles centrales nucléaires de type commercial aux États-Unis.
