Abstract

The main goal of the study is to investigate the relationship between the unemployment rate and economic growth at national and regional level. This enables the quantification of the effect on output when the unemployment rate changes. A short review of the main theoretical concepts has been made, explaining relationships between economic growth and unemployment. statistical analysis has been performed to study the relationships between the changes in real GDP and the unemployment rate, using annual and quarterly data. Finally, the obtained statistical models have been applied at national and regional level.
