The Problems Of Security In The Higher Education System At The Higher School Of Economics And Public Administration Management In Bratislava

Abstract

The issue of security and crisis management in public administration is an integral part of the education and training of future specialists in the field of administrative management. The importance and the status of the problem of public security and crisis management in the public sector of the Slovak Republic, the requirements for training specialists in this area in the system of higher education of the SR, and the experience of the private Higher School of Economics and Public Administration Management in Bratislava have been discussed. The Higher School of Economics and Public Administration Management in Bratislava (VSEMVS), is now in its eleventh year, acting as a private higher school of the non-university type without faculties, with the right to work on the whole territory of Slovakia. Currently, VSEMVS offers three accredited bachelor's and two master's programs of study. The achievements in the employment of graduates of VSEMVS make it possible to attribute it to the leading educational and research institutions of Slovakia. The school provides attractive and interesting social program of training specialists with higher education in the field of public administration, as well as managers for small and medium-sized enterprises. The experience of the Higher School of Economics and Public Administration Management in Bratislava in the implementation of a special training program "Public Safety" as well as the inclusion of the teaching of vocational subjects in the curricula of public administration programs in the context of the requirements of social practice have been described. VSEMVS is successfully cooperating on the issues of crisis management with the University of Masaryk in Brno, the Faculty of Special Engineering University in Žilina, as well as with the Police Academy of the Slovak Republic. Special lectures on selected themes in foreign languages are delivered by foreign teachers to VSEMVS students under the Erasmus program. In this area VSEMVS cooperates with the Higher Police School in the city of Poznan in Poland. Graduates who studied under this training program are qualified in public administration and self-government; act as advisers on security issues for businesses and individuals in the manufacturing and non-manufacturing sector; act as focal points of crisis management programs; they are directly involved in the organization of the state and population security.
