Abstract

Im Kontext der Entgrenzung von Arbeit zeichnet sich gegenwärtig ein Trend zum gezielten Einsatz der Dimension des Raumes als Rationalisierungs- und Steuerungsinstrument von Arbeit ab. Durch moderne (Großraum-) Bürokonzepte versuchen Unternehmen insbesondere im Segment der Hochqualifizierten die Kooperations- und Kommunikationsbeziehungen zwischen Beschäftigten als bislang unausgeschöpftes "Produktivitätsreservoir" zu erschließen. Am Beispiel des "Projekthauses" eines Unternehmens der Automobilindustrie zeigt der vorliegende Beitrag entlang der Kategorien "Kooperation", "Konfliktbearbeitung", "Leistungsregulation" und "Arbeitszeit" die Wirkmechanismen einer Büroarchitektur auf, die konsequent einen Zustand permanenter Sichtbarkeit zwischen Beschäftigten herstellt. Es zeigt sich, dass die Einführung des Projekthauses einen erweiterten Zugriff auf Arbeitsvermögen impliziert und für die Beschäftigten sehr ambivalente Konsequenzen hat.
