Re-Thinking Justice for Janitors - Strategische Erneuerung der amerikanischen Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft SEIU

Abstract

Die amerikanische Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft SEIU gilt als innovativste Kraft im Revitalisierungsprozess der US-Gewerkschaften. "Justice for Janitors" (JFJ) - ihre Signatur-Kampagne hat erfolgreich zehntausende von prekarisierten Beschäftigten organisiert und neue Modelle von "Organizing" und Repräsentation kreiiert. In diesem Beitrag wird nach zwei Dekaden JFJ die Bedeutung der Kampagne für die Restrukturierung der SEIU diskutiert und derzeit erprobte Erneuerungen vorgestellt. Diese Erneuerungen umfassen die Erweiterung auf neue Sektoren, neue Märkte und neue unternehmensorientierte Strategien, wobei die Frage, inwiefern sich das JfJ-Modell übertragen lässt, noch nicht hinreichend beantwortet ist. Es ist jedoch festzuhalten, dass eine Schwerpunktverlagerung von kostenintensiven "comprehensive campaigns" zu schnelleren und günstigeren Unternehmenskampagnen stattfindet, womit mitgliederorientierte Ansätze des derzeit in Deutschland so vielfach diskutierten Organizing reduziert werden.
