Caracterización biológica y económica de la pesquería del calamar (illex argentinus): parámetros principales y valoración de la unidad de manejo al sur de los 44º S

Abstract

A partir de una breve descripción de las principales características de la pesquería de calamar (Illex argentinus), se analizaron los parámetros que afectan la evolución de la pesquería. Se describen los desembarques, el valor bruto y el valor final de la producción generada por la explotación pesquera del calamar, con énfasis en la unidad de manejo al sur de los 44º S. La flota de buques poteros de la República Argentina y del Reino Unido en el período 1993-2000 desembarcaron en promedio el 92% del total declarado, correspondiendo el 67% a los desembarques de la unidad de manejo al sur de los 44º S. Del análisis de las exportaciones argentinas de calamar se concluyó que el 96% corresponde a productos elaborados a bordo. Se estimó el valor anual de la unidad de manejo sur del calamar como una función de la Biomasa Desovante y del porcentaje de escape de reproductores que permitan asegurar una explotación sostenible.
