Abstract

El presente trabajo corresponde a un capítulo de la Tesis doctoral inédita del autor: "El gobierno de Mariano Saavedra en la provincia de Buenos Aires. 1862-1866", que trata sobre los problemas que surgían entre le gobierno nacional (General Mitre) y el gobierno provincial (Mariano Saavedra) ante cualquier asunto que se presentaba y, en este caso, marca la diferencia de enfoques frente a un tema tan crucial como es el costo definitivo del Ferrocarril del Sud. Además, se rescata la figura ejemplar de Mariano Saavedra (hijo de Cornelio Saavedra y abuelo de Carlos Saavedra Lamas), quien tuvo que tomar distancia en momentos tensos de la política nacional, dividida entre nacionalistas y autonomistas.
