Aspectos relevantes de la diversificación productiva a nivel de la firma

Abstract

La diversificación de la producción es parte importante del proceso de desarrollo económico, dados sus efectos positivos sobre el crecimiento de largo plazo, la creación de empleo y la disminución de la desigualdad, particularmente en países menos desarrollados. Este artículo presenta los resultados de una investigación sobre diversificación productiva a nivel de la firma en la industria del Partido de General Pueyrredon (PGP). Los mismos muestran evidencia de asociación positiva entre la diversificación de las empresas y su tamaño y entre diversificación e intensidad tecnológica sectorial. También, se observa que las firmas surgidas en períodos favorables al crecimiento industrial están más especializadas, mientras que las creadas en períodos desfavorables están más diversificadas. Además de estos resultados, un aporte importante del trabajo es su abordaje metodológico, ya que la medición de la diversificación se realiza a partir de información sobre productos y no sobre actividades. Las técnicas estadísticas utilizadas son el coeficiente de correlación de Pearson, el test ANOVA de comparación de medias y la prueba de Bonferroni.
