Caracterización del sector hortícola de Bahía Blanca. Propuestas para su reconversión

Abstract

En el año 1995, el municipio de Bahía Blanca implementó el Programa de Promoción y Desarrollo del Cinturón Hortícola de Bahía Blanca con la intención de brindar asistencia técnica a los horticultores ubicados en la cuenca del río que circunda a la ciudad y sus áreas próximas. Este programa apuntaba a mejorar las condiciones de vida de los horticultores, sostener la ruralidad en el área periurbana, generar empleo e incentivar el agregado de valor en origen, entre otras cuestiones. Con el propósito de proponer alternativas para fortalecer y reconvertir el sector hortícola bahiense, propiciando así un ámbito adecuado para el desarrollo de la agricultura familiar, en el presente trabajo se caracterizará al sector a partir de entrevistas a informantes clave, para recopilar datos de índole productivo y comercial. Es de esperar que la acción conjunta entre los distintos actores considerados en este estudio -productores, municipalidad y universidad, entre otros- posibilite reimpulsar a este sector.
