El puerto de Mar del Plata

Abstract

La temática portuaria tomó relevancia a principios de la década del 90, cuando se establecieron las políticas macroeconómicas orientadas a fomentar las exportaciones. A lo largo del extenso litoral marítimo argentino existen diversas situaciones portuarias, aunque semejantes en las acciones para promover la inversión y la adecuación a las nuevas tecnologías aplicadas en los puertos del mundo. El sistema portuario marplatense, vinculado principalmente con la actividad pesquera, tiene rasgos particulares que lo diferencian de otros puertos y es un componente del sistema económico pesquero que influye en la productividad de la flota, en la calidad de la materia prima que llega a la industria, tiene efectos inducidos sobre proveedores e impacta sobre el medio ambiente. Si los servicios portuarios se integran en un sistema y éste es optimizado con el objetivo de reducir los costos y mejorar la productividad, puede contribuir al desarrollo económico de la ciudad y de la región en la cual está inserto.
