Espacio turístico y desarrollo sustentable

Abstract

El espacio turístico abarca las partes del territorio donde se verifica o podría verificarse la práctica de actividades turísticas; por lo tanto puede ser real o potencial. El elemento clave para delimitar el espacio turístico son los atractivos, representados en diversas categorías, tamaño y discontinuidad espacial. Sin su presencia el turismo no podría existir. Desde que la humanidad comenzó a reflexionar sobre el resultado del impacto de su acción sobre la superficie de la Tierra, los especialistas formulan continuas denuncias sobre la pérdida de biodiversidad y elaboran teorías para explicar los límites y la vulnerabilidad de los sistemas naturales. Así incorporan al lenguaje técnico nuevos conceptos, uno de ellos es “desarrollo sustentable” y sus variantes “ecodesarrollo”, “desarrollo sostenible” y “desarrollo sostenido”; aunque estos cuatro términos no significan lo mismo.
