Hacia una ciencia del turismo. Siguiendo los pasos de George Cazes

Abstract

En el artículo se presentan algunas consideraciones sobre la posible existencia de una nueva ciencia: la turistología, necesaria para analizar el turismo desde diferentes puntos de vista y englobando su multidisciplinariedad. Se presenta una reflexión sobre la obra de George Cazes, quien ha desarrollado toda la problemática del fenómeno turístico que marcó a la sociedad desde la segunda mitad del pasado siglo. Su obra se puede dividir en tres grandes bloques: los análisis regionales del turismo, la relación turismo-tercer mundo y la epistemología del turismo. Se aspira rendir un homenaje al gran geógrafo francés, quien pasó largo tiempo de su vida analizando los problemas y la temática del turismo como si fuese una sola ciencia, integrando la economía y la geografía, la sociología y la psicología, el marketing y la imagen.
