Une méthode d’analyse spatiale des espaces piétons au service d’un urbanisme orienté vers le rail ?

Abstract

La recherche de solutions en faveur de villes plus durables constitue, ces dernières années, l’un des enjeux majeurs de l’urbanisme ; dans ce cadre, un urbanisme orienté vers le rail pourrait devenir une alternative à un urbanisme de l’automobile qui façonne les formes urbaines depuis plusieurs décennies. L’un des leviers pouvant être mobilisé pour contribuer au succès du mode ferré face à l’automobile pourrait être l’amélioration des conditions de rabattement piéton en direction des gares au travers de dispositifs spatiaux relatifs aux parcours convergeant vers ces dernières. Dans cet article, un outil original d’aide au diagnostic spatial, complété par des critères permettant d’apprécier la qualité d’un parcours piéton — préalable indispensable à toute démarche de projet — est tout d’abord proposé. Cet outil est ensuite testé, à titre illustratif, sur une étude cas — le quartier de la gare Carnot à Saint-Étienne — débouchant sur une esquisse de proposition de réaménagement des espaces piétons, guidée par une logique d’un urbanisme du rail. null
