Perceived deprivation in Brazil in a multidimensional perspective

Abstract

Sachant que la pauvreté est un phénomène multidimensionnel et perçu subjectivement, en discuter à partir de cette orientation permet d’obtenir une perspective plus étendue que celle basée sur le revenu ou les biens des ménages. Nous employons ce cadre d’analyse pour étudier les ménages au Brésil en utilisant des techniques multivariées. On observe que les ménages considérés comme pauvres, aussi bien par rapport au revenu familial que par rapport à l’alimentation, sont encore courants dans des régions rurales qui vivent dans une indigence multidimensionnelle. Dans des régions urbaines, la pauvreté a tendance à être surtout unidimensionnelle, soit notamment à cause des problèmes concernant l’état des logements, soit à cause de difficultés de solvabilité.
