Lutz and Equilibrium Theories of the Business Cycle

Abstract

La question de l’incorporation des phénomènes cycliques dans un cadre analytique en termes d’équilibre a longtemps été considérée comme une question à la fois fondamentale et controversée jusqu’à ce que, au début des années 1970, Lucas propose une solution à ce dilemme. Différents papiers ont depuis souligné la (dis-)continuité entre les programmes de recherche de l’entre-deux guerre et celui de Lucas. Dans ce débat, la contribution de Lutz a été totalement négligée. L’objectif de ce papier est d’analyser son ouvrage de 1932, Konjunkturproblem in der Nationalökonomie considéré comme une contribution majeure à a théorie des cycles d’équilibre.
