Police, tango et argot : culture policière et culture populaire à Buenos Aires au XXe siècle

Abstract

À partir de l’analyse d’un corpus d’écrits informels produit par la police de Buenos Aires tout au long du XX e siècle, ce travail analyse la célébration paradoxale d’éléments de la culture populaire, qui constituent, en même temps, un objet de surveillance. La glorification de l’expérience de la rue comme critère de distinction explique, dans un premier temps, le prestige acquis par les savoirs sur le monde « réel ». Ensuite, en prenant l’exemple du tango et du lunfardo, cette étude montre que, pour être efficaces, les langages de la police ont besoin d’établir un lien explicite avec les répertoires associés au monde populaire. Ce lien est obtenu grâce à l’appropriation d’une sélection d’éléments culturels compatibles avec l’univers symbolique policier.
