Diplomatie et politique étrangère de la France contemporaine : un bilan historiographique depuis 1990

Abstract

The history of contemporary French foreign policy has been considerably renewed for the last twenty years. The heritage of the school founded by Pierre Renouvin and Jean-Baptiste Duroselle is still of great influence, but it’s now open to new problematic controls, including concepts of perception, representations or international systems and other disciplines. The research mainly relates to the concept of power, the place of France in the world and the reconsideration of its exceptionality. Bilateral relationships remain privileged, but studies on the place of France in the European system and the construction of the European Community have increased. At last, studies relating to the evolution of the diplomatic tools and practices, especially in the economic and cultural fields, make up another particularly dynamic research sector .
