Une source à revisiter : les lettres de provision de charges (1643-1715)

Abstract

À partir d’un corpus de 350 lettres de provision de charges concernant des magistrats du parlement de Bordeaux, en poste entre 1643 et 1715, nous tenterons de montrer que ce document, trop souvent considéré comme une source relativement pauvre, est une base essentielle pour une étude statistique des carrières, renouvelée par l’utilisation de l’informatique. En outre, il se prête aussi à des approches plus originales, dès lors que l’on s’intéresse à ce qui sort de la norme.
