Abstract

Got a life: posts from a female physicist 'Female Science Professor' has been blogging [on http://tinyurl.com/2gctd2 ] since May 2006 on the experiences of a woman in what she says is a man's world, a physical sciences department in a large US research university. More than 500 of her postings have now been collected in book form. The result, Academeology: Random Musings, Strong Opinions and Somewhat Bizarre Anecdotes from an Academic Life, is engrossing, says our (female biotechnologist) reviewer. Tales of casual sexism are disheartening, she writes, but 'FSP' shows that it is possible to have both a career as a scientist and a life outside science.
