New Proposals for the Italian Mezzogiorno

Author

Abstract

The paper deals with the question of the Italian Mezzogiorno, with reference to the current Italian conditions in Economic, Politic and Culture. In the opinion of the Writer in Southern Italy the general living conditions are still worse than in the Northern Italy and the policy of the present Government is in favour of the North. Moreover from the financial point of view there has been an enormous waste of money owing to the excessive number of projects and to a very bad public direction. As matters stand the only possibility to start a process of real growth is the formulation of a long-term plan - perhaps until 2020 - whose main characteristics are: a) the relationship with the Mediterranean area; b) the exploitation of intern resources by some great coordinate projects; c) a rigorously transparent behaviour from the Authorities who decide on the funds.
