L'insegnamento dell'economia politica nella scuola secondaria superiore in Italia

Abstract

Economics education is essential in all nations to prepare students for the changing world economy. The paper offers a description and an assessment of how secondary school economics is currently provided and how it ha changed over the last decades in Italy. The analysis covered some topics: enrollments in economics, content in economic courses, economic textbook, economics and other subject, teacher education. The paper analyses the substantial improvement in the conditions of secondary school economic education in Italy. For improving further in this filed three key factors have a critical relevance: the economic competence of the teachers, the definition of a national standard curriculum, the elaboration of effective methods for improving the teaching instruments. The most important task of high school economic education is to raise public literacy in a subject that is of central importance for citizen in many respects of their lives.
