If the historical analysis of the artmarket in Italy reveals its aesthetic role, radical choices are needed in orderto spread contemporary art as a common good. The case of Eyes WideOpen, the first major auction dedicated to Arte Povera which enshrines therecognition of such avant-garde is emblematic of the role played by themarket not only in economic terms, but also socio-cultural and historicalenhancements with direct repercussions in relation to the Italian artisticcontemporary heritage.
