Abstract

This paper, divided into three chapters, investigates some aspects of theart market from a qualitative perspective by acknowledging the multiplicityof the Art Market and the coexistence of different markets by simultaneouslyanalysing the specific roles of key players in an ever-changing context and bydelineating possible future scenarios. While deliberately limiting references to numbers and figures, the argumentsfocus on the difference between Art and Art market, revealing asymmetries, overlapping and mutual influences. When the distinction between Art and Art Market gets muddy, uncertainand in some cases undecidable, a fundamental question urgently arises:is the artistic act an ultimate form of resistance to the market?
