Abstract

In a strongly anthropized country like the Italian one, landscape, whose definition has seen many and different interpretations in the past decades, is the context in which people live. The management of landscape transformations has a direct influence on the territory, because it tells the story and describes its identity. Faced with the damage inflicted on the Italian landscape, particularly in the 70s, it is legitimate to ask what future, which political approach and therefore, which regulatory framework, can guarantee greater protection for the Italian landscape heritage. The answers can come from limits to land use, sustainable economy, securing the territory, protecting and enhancing the landscape, new architecture, clean energy: everything contributes in a coordinated way to improve qualityof the life of the citizens and only a broad vision will allow us to overcome the infinite regulatory and competence fragmentations. «The National Landscape Charter» presented by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage in March 2018 aims to make the actions of local and national institutions less conflictual and to make the communities of citizens increasingly aware of their rights and also of their duties in relation to a common heritage.
