Abstract

The demand of measures and tools for communicating complex, changing and elusive phenomena, tied to multifaceted concepts, like wellbeing, arises from the need of supporting new policies with new, reliable evidence. Whereas art and culture are seldom acknowledged among the basic components/ dimensions of wellbeing, they for sure have an impact on several of those dimensions. They are particularly associated with that unquestioned pillar of wellbeing that is health, in both physical and mental sense. The article proposes a first set of indicators, from the Italian survey Aspects of the daily life, on the association between self-perceived health and intensity of cultural participation and practice and describes possible research developments on those complex phenomena.
