Digital Revolution in the Cultural Industries. The Regulation of a Schumpeterian Cycle

Abstract

At the possible end of the digital revolution, like in a Schumpeterian cycle, cultural industry policies seem have been implemented at a late stage and without a clear picture of the issues that they were to supposed to address. The objectification of the statistical situation of cultural industries is lacking, as does an analysis of specific economic concerns, due to the establishment of a European cultural industries policy focused on industry levers and cultural objectives. It is only recently, most likely at the end of the technological and economic cycle, that such a policy is starting to emerge. As a result, this policy is relevant yet risks entrenching established positions that are detrimental to European cultural industries.
