Abstract

The intention of this paper is to analyse the debate about culture as an engine of urban regeneration, and to highlight the most interesting trends of that debate. We take three concepts as a starting point: urban regeneration, creativity, and youth. This analysis begins with the introduction of urban development strategies based on culture and projects developed using a «bottom-up» approach. It then discusses the importance of supporting culture, youth creativity and community involvement to promote the regeneration - both physically and culturally - of urban spaces and the economic and social development of territories.
