Abstract

The current situation in the performing arts sector is the result of extensive transformation processes still largely underway. Over the last several decades, business management attitudes and practices and consumer styles and behaviour have changed concurrently with the evolution of languages. The professional training of artists, technicians, and managers, involving a complex network of entities and institutions, is one of the most problematic aspects of this sector. Indeed, it faces a large number of open issues, from the allocation of functions among ministries, universities and regions, to forms of financing, and, ultimately, to the harmonisation of training programs. There is an acutely felt need for interaction among cultural, employment, and training policies.
