Abstract

The paper focuses upon the various relationships occurring between the cultural and the trerritorial dimensions within the evolving paradigm of the experience economy. Such relationships imply many structural transformations in important aspects of the urban organisation, and require innovative modes of managing the public decision-making processes. They also imply new opportunities for employment, emphasizing the growing role of creative skills and professions. Within such a framework a crucial importance is attributed to the links and relationships developing within cultural districts, and the need for a ad-hoc design of cultural governance based upon the economic value of the cultural backbone. In such a respect, the paper elaborates a series of indicators able to show the distance between any territorial network of cultural activities and the model of a cultural district.
