Abstract

The Basque Observatory of Culture – Kulturaren Euskal Behatokia (OVC-KEB) gives us some key information about its mission in the Basque cultural system. Three lines of research are pointed out: contribute as an Observatory to the cultural information system gathering data and information, producing indicators and biennial statistical operations dedicated to arts, cultural and creative industries. Statistics are produced and analysed on public expenditure on culture and creativity, as well as a five-year cultural participation survey. Qualitative researches aimed at investigating issues that directly concern cultural and creative policies, or that affect society as a whole and that consequently affect these policies are also done. The third axis of studies is carried out in consultation with the sectors
