Abstract

The history of Alitalia and the role of her (public) savior (J. e . l .: G33; K21;L1; L93). The article critically scrutinises the recent Alitalia corporate and management history starting from the final phases of the C ai experience. In this perspective, the Etihad Airways partnership, which was intended to support the re-launch the airline company,is then assessed with a view to emphasise also the structural weaknesses that have prevented the company to be able to effectively compete on the market. Finally, the intense stages that have similarly characterized the state-appointed commissioners of-fice, which have tried to set up the auction process to find possible buyers, are taken into account up to the approval of the nationalisation plan. But, will it be re-launch or therapeutic obstinacy?
