The European electricity market killed in its cot: short story of the Cronus of Brussels

Abstract

La politica energetica europea, che doveva trovare un equilibrio tra sicurezza energetica, compatibilità ambientale e competitività è cresciuta con molte ambizioni mal riposte, in mezzo alle quali la competitività è passata in secondo piano. La crescita incontrollata degli incentivi agli impianti di generazione elettrica da fonti rinnovabili ha poi condotto a una situazione paradossale. Dagli anni Novanta l'Unione Europea aveva puntato molto sulla creazione di mercati energetici, e poi di un mercato unico, ma si è finito invece per soffocare qualunque idea di mercato. Infine, i sussidi alle rinnovabili impediscono agli impianti tradizionali di raggiungere il loro punto di pareggio, e questo rischia di condurre a nuovi sussidi.
