Abstract

The causal link between culture and development is extremely complex and is expressed by following patterns that can not be traced inside of unitary or homogeneous analytical schemes. In this debate, there is a broad acknowledgement that «culture matters». First of all, and even more than in the past, as a source of externalities with widespread and transversal impacts on the quality of human resources and knowledge; secondly, as a determinant of patterns of competitive advantage in the global competition. This paper analyzes this issue from the most significant contributions of the Conference on «Culture and Cultural Assets: New business to a New Industry» in September 2015.
