Cambiando attitudini alla cooperazione: le basi per una nuova struttura industriale in Argentina

Abstract

We examine a specific development path for at least parts of Argentina. Building on the structural causes of the country's crisis identified by Bianchi (2002), the paper suggests that the foundation for a new industrial structure might be based on changes in attitudes to co-operation among politicians, firms, institutions and citizens. While all economies are based on cooperation, the precise form is of fundamental concern. We explore different types of co-operation through examples and experiences elsewhere, including US-style capitalism and small-firm clustering. We end with some initial, practical steps that actors within Argentina might consider. The suggestion is that such steps might move localities away from the series of short-term "bubbles" that have characterised the country's recent development.
