Abstract

The history of IRI is not just made up of numbers; it is above all a history of workers, technicians and managers who have contributed to the development of the country over three generations. The achievements of the privatisation process in the 1990s are a meaningful evidence of this. IRI has successfully privatised the complex of enterprises that represented the principal arm of the State in the Italian economy. This has been realized thanks to the capacity of its structure, together with the Treasury, and the advisors that were chosen, from time to time, to plan and manage en efficient procedural system for the sales. A Foundation, set up as part of the closing act of IRI, will preserve the historical memory of the Institute, and will make the most of its tradition in the field of training of top-level managers.
