Abstract

An enormous number of firms operate in Japan. According to the Annual Corporate Enterprise Statistics, there are approximately 1.8 million business corporations. Included in this figure are green groceries, liquor stores, and small factories, as well as world-class mega-corporations in the top ranks of the Fortune 500. How is this vast number of diverse firms interrelated?
