The Globalization of Personnel Systems in Japanese Enterprises

Abstract

One of the reasons why firms expand overseas is to take advantage of the low cost of management resources. When wages, the price of parts or raw materials, the price of natural resources or energy, and the rate of interest on loans are lower than in the home country, firms expand overseas in order to gain country-specific advantage (CSA). The competitive advantage of multinational corporations lies in the utilization (internalization) of the price differentials of factor costs in individual countries and their engaging in more efficient production than the domestic producers.
