Abstract

The current issue comprises thirteen articles selected on the basis of their representativeness of the underlying trends and attributes of economic activity in the People's Republic of China during the period January 1 through March 30, 1973. The documents seem to suggest that the economy is still going through a period of consolidation and that there is no sign of a break from the economic policy of last year. For instance, some of the articles included here stress the continued pursuit of the principle of "taking agriculture as the foundation and industry as the leading factor" in handling the interrelations among agriculture, light industry, and heavy industry.
