Abstract

For the last two decades, China has witnessed dramatic changes in financial reform and inflows of foreign direct investment (FDI). Chinese financial-market reforms have liberated many economic activities from state control, and stock exchanges have been established for state-owned enterprises to raise equity for growth. Chinese policymakers are concerned about the risks of the reforms in the financial system that are compatible and sustainable with the evolving Chinese economy.
